What Can I Do About Receding Gums?

Gum recession can cause teeth to be sensitive to hot and cold and certain foods. Recession can be caused by teeth grinding, overbrushing, genetics, poor dental care, fillings and crowns -- but the most common reason is not seeing the dentist often enough to reduce the tartar buildup at the gumline. Ask your dentist what is causing your gum recession and what to do about it. Gum recession is often multi-factorial and of course, even in a healthy mouth, as we age, gum recession occurs naturally. Talk to your dentist about gum recession because it can cause root decay and pain if you don't tackle it head on.
